AR-15 Makover

My youngest son's AR is built around a "ban" era Armalite M15A4 midlength upper. It's a fantastic shooter, and very accurate. I've kind of had an eye out for one like it lately. I've also been kicking around the idea of a hunting AR along the lines of the Bushmaster Predator or RRA Coyote Carbine.

I stopped by a local pawn shop and saw a couple of ugly AR's on the gun rack. One of them had a muzzle brake that caught me eye and I had to check it out. Turns out to be an Armalite midlength carbine from the ban days.

But there was a lot of stuff that was going to have to be changed. Here's a pic of the Krylon camo job, pinned butt stock on a rifle length buffer tube.

Gotta Go!

Here's a dandy, a Chinese "tactical" light, this thing has a yellow lens and a weak 3 led bulb.

File 13!

It did come with an Armalite detachable carry handle and a "Colt" 3x20 scope.

How do I tell if this "Colt" scope is legit or a fake?

But it is an Armalite, in great condition.

I've got some odds and ends (AR-15 parts) around here, but nothing that was suitable for this rifle. So I went looking online at
ARFCOM

I found a discontinued Realtree camo furniture set online and decided to do a "makeover"

I think it turned out pretty well, I stuck the ATN optic on it temporarily, not sure if I'll stick with it or try something else. It's a 5x illuminated reticle scope with a rangefinding reticle.

And here's a view of how the camo looks against some typical fall Texas groundcover

So what do you think?
